The latest concept version of the lovely Mazda MX-5, unveiled at the 2012 SEMA show, is designed with endurance racing in mind. To that end it features “55” racing number, a tribute to Mazda’s 1991 24 Hours Le Mans win.

Finished in Mazdaspeed colors of black, gray and red with white stripes, this MX-5 Miata features 17-inch Volk Racing wheels with 225-45ZR17 BFGoodrich g-Force R1 tires and PIAA 40 series lights.

The stripped-out interior now has a Sparco Evo competition racing seat with Mazda’s Charcoal ultra-suede material and tomato red inserts, suede Sparco R323 competition steering wheel, and six-point harness. On top of all that there is an AiM MXL data acquisition logger system which is an essential race car feature.

No performance upgrade seem to be made to this mini endurance racer, but it does get improved chassis and brakes. The MX-5 Super 25 is a concept car and there is no plans to actually make it happen.
