Here’s an old but very interesting video from Jay Leno’s Garage, in which he reviews his own McLaren Mercedes SLR – one of the first units in America. Back then Jay used to daily drive this SLR, because in spite of its scary speed and thunderous noise, the car’s actually quite civilized. It’s comfy and easy to drive. The 620-hp SLR is one of the finest and most iconic supercars ever made.
What makes this video all the more interesting to watch is Jay’s tour of the Mercedes corner at his garage. He’s kept all his Mercedes memorabilia, from when he was a kid working at a dealership that sold Mercedes cars, to the day he was driven around the Pebble Beach by Sir Stirling Moss. He even has Fangio’s first ever world championship trophy in his possession. What a man!
