Mazda MX-5 is a great sports car, but it always suffered from the lack of enough power. Some say it shouldn’t have big power, because effortless performance will take all the fun out of driving the MX-5. That might be true, but there’s no denying the car’s straight-line performance needs a bit of tweaking. Luckily, BBR-Cosworth supercharger kit is at hand to address that problem.

Their new supercharger kit comes in two stages of power, and solve the low power issue the best way possible. The package covers all of the 2005 onwards 124 bhp 1.8i and 158 bhp 2.0i Mk3 / 3.5 models. It offers from 217 to 258 horsepower.

The Stage I treatment with peak output of 241 bhp includes Cosworth designed Inlet manifold housing and hardware extensively modified by BBR for optimum efficiency and reliability, Eaton 4th generation MP62 Supercharger, Intercooler (Air to water), High flow calibrated injectors, High flow replacement air box, Competition high-grade hoses and fixings throughout and a BBR StarChip ECU car remapping north west.

Stage I package is priced at £4995 or £4295 if you go for the DIY fitment.

The Stage II with maximum output of 258 bhp also gets BBR stainless steel 4 into 1 exhaust manifold, BBR 2.5 “stainless steel exhaust centre section with metallic sports cat and centre silencer, BBR stainless steel rear silencer with adjustable 3.5”BBR branded tailpipes, High flow BBR performance air filter, BBR StarChip ECU remapping to suit Stage Two mechanical specification.

This one costs £6395 or £5455 with DIY.
