The next big thing to come out of Affalterbach is the new Black Series version of the Mercedes SLS. Based on the latest report the SLS Black will get no less than 630 horsepower, which compared to the SLS GT’s 590 shows only a small improvement. But Black Series cars are not just about power.
What sets Black Mercs apart is their fantastic drive. And Mercedes SLS Black Series buys into that big time by offering a revised chassis, modified aerodynamics and lighter weight, will deliver a greater experience than the standard SLS.
The car is said have a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 3.4 seconds, which is about 0.3 seconds faster than the current car.
Visually, the usual Black Series treatment will be applied, which means you get insanely flared arches, new front spoiler and side skirts, and possibly a big rear wing. To get an idea of what the SLS Black would look like, look at the new SLS GT3 45th Anniversary.
SLS Black will probably be the last Mercedes model to feature the naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8. It will be produced in limited numbers, with only a 100 slated for U.S.
