Not that many tuners approach Mazda3, because with its rather unique styling and brilliant handling, it’s a hard car to modify. And the hardest of all is the MPS version – Mazdaspeed3 in America – which is a 260 horsepower hot hatch. Now, MR Car Design decided to have a go at it, and they seem to have successfully tamed the monster.

Understandably, they haven’t done much to the exterior – well, they’ve just given it a new set of wheels – but they have tuned the 2.3 liter turbocharged engine up to 310 horsepower. While that extra power is sure to make the MPS even faster in the straight line, we’re not sure how it affects the car’s already messy behavior around corners.

To try and improve the handling a bit, the tuner has fitted the hot Mazda with KW coilover suspension. And those wheels are 19-inch Oxigin models, also contributing to the way the car corners.
