Vaughn Gittin Drifts Around Ford’s Flat Rock Plant

Formula DRIFT at Vaughn Gittin Drifts Around Fords Flat Rock Plant

Ford found Formula DRIFT a perfect opportunity to market their high performance models. So they signed a sponsorship deal to support FormulaD throughout the 2013 season. Ford sees professional drifting as a way reaching new audience. Thanks to drivers like Vaughn Gittin Jr who’s been campaigns Mustangs for years, it all seems relevant.

Gittin is one of the world’s most famous drifters. He is a two-time D1 Grand Prix champion who’s won the 2010 Formula DRIFT championship at the wheel of a Mustang GT and leads the 2012 series. To celebrate Ford’s deal he went to Flat Rock Assembly Plant where they make 500 Mustangs every shift, and drift his new office around the compound:

“Ever since Ford came into the series competitively in 2005, we have seen the power of what a factory-backed effort can do,” said Ryan Sage, co-founder/vice-president, Formula DRIFT. “Now we are even more excited to have them on as an official partner for the final event of the year and into 2013.”
