Taigun is the name of a new crossover concept Volkswagen has come up with at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. So this is what the rumors about a small three-door crossover were talking about. The car is in the same size as Nissan’s small crossover, the Extrem, also revealed in Brazil.

VW Taigun is 3,859 mm long, 1,728 mm wide and 1,570 mm tall, and offers a wheelbase of nearly 2.5 meters. It looks chiseled and cool and has nice styling details such as silver underbody protectoin parts, or air intakes right below the headlights. Those 17-inch wheels also have a nice design.

The concept car is powered by a three-cylinder 1.0-litre TSI engine with 81 kW/110 PS and 170 Nm of torque. Weighing 985 kg, the car goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and ca reach a top speed of 186 km/h, while averaging 4.5 liter per 100 km.

Volkswagen is sending mix signals about the Taigun’s chances for production, but it makes a lot of sense to make it. It is basically production ready, and there is definitely a market for a cute and cuddly little SUV like this!
