The new R-Line trim level for the VW Tiguan is on sale in the UK, priced from £28,020. R-Line is VW’s speak for models with sporty body kits and extra features over the normal version. They don’t come with performance upgrades, but the Tiguan R-Line comes the most powerful engines in the range.
They include the 2.0-litre TSI with 210 PS and 4MOTION four-wheel drive, plus Volkswagen’s popular 2.0-litre common rail TDI engine with either 140 or 170 PS and 4MOTION. All of them are fitted by default with a six-speed manual gearbox.
As for the features, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is based on the SE trim level, but adds – on the outside – bi-xenon headlights, 18-inch ‘Mallory’ alloy wheels, painted in Sterling Silver with black wheelarch extensions, body-coloured unique front and rear ‘R’ design bumpers and rear spoiler, an R-Line logo on the front grille and aluminium front door sills with R-Line logo. So it looks totally different.
Inside the cabin the treatment brings you front sport seats and two-tone upholstery, R-Line logo on the front head restraints, leather multifunction steering wheel with aluminium inlay and R-Line logo and stainless steel pedals.
As mentioned, starting price for the car is £28,020 for the 140 PS model, while the 170 PS models costs an extra £680. The petrol-powered 210 PS model runs for £28,435. Sounds like good value, compared to the £27,790 Nissan X-Trail n-tec.
