The first batch of the new Mercedes E-Class official photos leak onto the web ahead of its official debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show next month. The pictures shows both sedan and estate versions and what’s new for both in terms of styling.
The facelift operation for the 2013 E-Class include new front and rear bumpers, a new prominent grille, slightly revised taillights, and all-new headlights with iconic LEDs inside them, to be used in most other new Mercedes cars as well.
The profile is the same and the interior has barley changed. The cabin is basically the same as every other model in Mercedes current lineup.
As always, Mercedes has been conservative with the design of the E-Class, steering clear of radical changes. Sadly, that attitude has resulted in a rather dull looking vehicle here. It is worse in the case of the T-Modell – the estate – which looks kinda wrong to be honest.
BMW proved with the current 5-Series that you can be conservative, and still make a good looking executive saloon. Mercedes could have done better with the new E-Class. Let’s wait and see what they have in store for the E63 AMG.
