Now that BMW has revealed the 4 Series Coupe we don’t have to hurt our brains trying to imagine what the next M3 – or rather M4 – will look like. Automotive artists have already penned the F82 M4 based on the 4 Series with spot on details.
As we know from the E92 M3, the M version of BMW’s mid-range coupe gets its own bumpers, bonnet, sports grille, sides skirts, and rear diffuser, maybe a small bootlid spoiler. The roof will be carbon fiber and the mirrors probably blacked-out. Large M wheels and a couple of M badges are also included. Put those details on a 4Series Coupe, and there’s your M4.
Engine-wise, the new car won’t get the V8 anymore. Instead it will be powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine that delivers the same sort of power, but it’s far more fuel efficient. The new engine is also lighter and more compact, which helps with the packaging.
The M3 badge is not dead. The sedan version of this car, based on the current 3 Series, that will be called the M3.
