Through a document Daimler released to tease the new E-Class lineup debut at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show we get our first look at the new Mercedes E63 AMG. It looks pretty much similar to the E-Class Coupe, but obviously with four doors. The most interesting part of this car, as always, is the engine.
It is obviously going to be a 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8, but the output is unknown at the moment. Surely it will be well over 500 horsepower. The new model is also getting an AMG-developed 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. That should introduce the E63 to new levels of performance. AMG cars are famous for being a bit lairy handling-wise, and that’s frankly what makes them fun.
Beside the new E-Class family – including the E-sedan, E-Wagon, E-Coupe and E-Cabrio, and of course the E63 – another major Detroit debut for Mercedes Benz is the CLA four-door coupe; CLS’ little brother.
