McLaren 12C GT3’s performance in 2012 – 98 race entries, 19 wins, and 19 podium finishes – was deemed successful enough to continue the customer racing program. So McLaren GT, the motorsport arm of McLaren Automotive, will produce further examples of the 12C GT3 in 2013, with a few changes.
These changes are designed to offer enhanced drivability, reliability and efficiency, coupled with reduced complexity, and include a revised aerodynamics package, an upgraded ECU with a revised electrical system and alternative dampers. The 2013 car also gets updated bonnet and ducting, as part of an updated cooling system.
The cost of an upgraded 2013 McLaren 12C GT3 is £325,000. The upgrades are also available to the existing cars as a package.
The 12C GT3 will continue to be raced by all active GT teams who competed in 2012. In addition to this, several new teams have now taken delivery of the 2013 model year 12C GT3 and are preparing for the new season.
