Valet Mode is a cool new feature Chevrolet has added to the new 2014 Impala luxury saloon. It is basically a secure storage space; a PIN-activated retractable faceplate over a secure storage bin in which you can safely keep valuable items like wallets, smartphones, and so on.

The storage box is linked to the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment’s 8-inch center stack touchscreen display. It has a special menu where you enter your four-digit PIN code to open the safe behind the touch screen. Addresses and contacts stored on MyLink also remain PIN-protected.

This is a simple but very very useful feature. It becomes especially handy when you lend your car to someone else. You don’t have to clear it out of your personal stuff. You just lock’em up in your personal safe in the car!

The video below shows you how it works:

“Valet mode is the kind of feature that Impala customers will appreciate,” said Chris Perry, Chevrolet vice president of Global Marketing. “It is one of many great new features on our newest MyLink and a small part of Impala’s overall technology package.”
