The GT is supposed to be a more track-ready version of the Mercedes SLS AMG super car. The normal SLS, which is now out of production, has such a loose tail that all it does in corners is chew tires. The SLS GT though comes with revised suspension, a tweaked drivetrain, and 30 more horsepower. So, has it worked? Can you take the SLS GT to a race track and take on a Ferrari 458 with it?

To find out, Carlos Lago of Motor Trend took this big mad German supercar to the Willow Springs International Raceway and drove it around some tight bends:

With a maximum output of 435 kW (591 hp), the optimised AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission and the redeveloped AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT – which is available both as a Coupé and a Roadster – has raised the bar even higher. As a further highlight, the new high-quality AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather is now also available as an optional extra for all SLS AMG models.
