Mercedes Benz and AMG unveiled their first-ever proper hot hatchback at the Geneva Motor Show. Coming in its most special Edition 1 trim, the A45 was accompanied by hiphop star Usher, who seems to have become the new brand ambassador.

AMG’s smallest production car is powered by a two-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine developing 360 horsepower and maximum torque of 450Nm. It only uses 6.9 liter of fuel per 10 km, and yet takes the car from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, which is sports car territory. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

Mercedes A45 AMG Edition 1 is priced at €49,682.50.

“The A 45 AMG is stretching the boundaries of its segment, the CLA defines a whole new one and the new E-Class is raising the bar in its own neighbourhood again,” states Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. All of these cars show you where Mercedes is heading. And they underline that we intend to get there in the fast lane.”
