The production version of the Mercedes B-Class Electric has been unveiled at New York, and it’s getting ready for an early 2014 launch. The car boasts some promising numbers – at least compared to today’s electric cars – and it has the same safety and convenience features as normal B-Class models.

The motor in the B-Class ED makes 100 kW (134 bhp) and 310 Nm (228 lb-ft) of torque which is good for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of under 10 seconds, and a limited top speed of 160 km/h (100 mph).

The lithium-ion battery located under the floor provides the car with a range of 200 km (115 miles) on one charge. Full charge takes a lot of time, but if you plug it for two hours to a normal household socket, it can provide enough juice for a 100 km or 60 mile drive.

Among the high-end features in this car we can mention Becker MAP PILOT with a 15″ screen, COMAND and LINGUATRONIC voice system, radar-based collision warning system, Active Parking Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist.

Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch.
