The AMG version of the new Mercedes CLA makes its official debut at the New York Auto Show and that means we now have the official details and specs. And it’s pretty awesome. What we have here is a stylish compact four-door coupe with a four-cylinder turbo engine with 360 horsepower and fuel consumption of 6.9 litres per 100 km.

It is almost as good as cars get. The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG is like a mini CLS63, only it is much more fun to drive because it is so tiny and has the new AMG 4 Matic system that gives it more versatility and helps it put that enormous down more efficiently.

The engine powering the CLA 45 is the most powerful production four-cylinder engine it the world with a maximum output of 265 kW (360 hp) and up to 450 Newton metres of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and its top speed is 250 km/h (electronically limited). And because it is only a 2.0 liter and turbocharged, it is also quite frugal.

The CLA 45 also gets a full AMG exhaust system with valves and flaps inside it, similar to the system used in the SLK55. It also borrows its cooling system from the SLS AMG supercar. Another high-end feature is the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission.

Mercedes CLA 45 AMG will launch in Jul 2013, starting from 56,078 euros in Europe.
