Turns out this UAE-bound Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 is more than just a one-off. The head of G-Class production at Mercedes-AMG has apparently confirmed production of this awesome vehicle. They are planning 20 to 30 six-wheeled G63 per year, but pricing has not been confirmed yet (probably in the half a million range).
The base for this car is not the G63 AMG, but rather the original 6×6 G-Class military vehicle. The elongated ladder chassis is jacked up on off-road suspension with Öhlins dampers and features no less than five differentials.
Where the military G-Class has a 320CDI diesel engine though, the 6×6 G63 gets the M157 5.5 liter Biturbo V8 engine with 540 horsepower. The car also boasts a pickup body that is nearly 6 meters long and weighs 3.7 tons. And if you are wondering about the wheels, they measure 37 inch tall each.
The 6×6 G63 is still reasonably fast with a 0 to 100 km/h time of under six seconds and top speed of 160 km/h (100 mph – limited).
