This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic cars in the history. The Mercedes SL Pagoda is as big an icon as the Porsche 911, but unlike the 911 everybody loves the SL. This car was designed by Paul Bracq to succeed the legendary 300 SL Gullwing as a more mainstream sports car.
It is amazing how fresh those simple and straight forward lines still look half a century later. The nickname Pagoda was given to this car because of the special design of its hard top.
