Volkswagen unveiled the U.S.-spec version of the seventh-generation Golf during a ceremony in New York, in preparation for the car’s early 2014 launch. The American Golf looks the same as the European one; the only difference is in the choice of engines and trim levels.
Golf VII will launch in the USA with a choice of three engines, including a 1.8 liter turbo four-pot with 170hp, a 2.0 liter Clean Diesel TDI unit with 150hp, and a 2.0-liter TSI turbo with 210hp. The latter belongs to the GTI model which also gets a subtle body kit and some interior upgrades over the normal models.
XDS differential and a dual-clutch transmission are available for selected models. Pricing will be revealed closer to launch.
