We’ve already got a pretty good look at the new generation Mercedes S-Class in this spyshot, but the adjacent photo is the first officially official picture of the 2014 S-Class, accidentally leaked on car maker’s Austrian website. The S-Class W222 will make its world debut in two weeks.
Looking at this picture that shows the front-end and side profile of the new S-Class, you can clearly see the profound effect of Mercedes existing range on the design of this car. Those fancy lines on the side are lifted straight from the CLS and CLA, while the front bumper – which in the case of this photo appears to be a Sport AMG unit – gets the same sort of air intakes we’ve seen on the A45. The signature LED headlights are another shared feature between Mercedes Benz models.
Now, this gives Mercedes products a certain corporate look that is instantly recognizable, but we’re not sure we like the fact that all their cars are looking pretty much the same these days. I mean look at the SL and the SLK. They look very similar, and both of them are nowhere near as cool and beautiful as the cars they have replaced. The same applies to the CLS , the new GLK, the new E-Class, and now the S-Class. OK, the new A-Class is an exception.
Engine-wise, the 2014 Mercedes S-Class will be available with a wide range of four, six, and eight cylinder petrol and diesel units. It will also get a hybrid variant.
