Following a fruitful debut season for the Dodge Dart in the global Rallycross, the car maker once again team ups with racing legend Travis Pastrana for this year’s series. Pastrana Racing will now field two Dodge Dart race cars for 2013 season, which kicks off April 21 in Brazil.
The American-style Rallycross is slightly different than what we know as Rallycross in Europe, which is part gravel, part tarmac racing. This Rallycross is part of the X Games rally races and because it uses 600 horsepower versions of street cars, and also includes lots of action scenes like massive jumps and bumper to bumper racing, it is much more exciting than the European version. The fans calls it “motocross with cars”.
Last year Pastrana finished 10th in the final series standings, bagging only one victory in the fourth race of the season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. But he enjoyed his time behind the wheel of the Dart and is hoping for better results this year.
“At Dodge, racing is an integral part of our heritage and embodies our competitive spirit, so we’re very excited to have Travis Pastrana back in the Dodge Dart for the 2013 season,” said Reid Bigland , President and CEO – Dodge Brand. “With a 0-60 time of less than 2-seconds, the Global Rallycross series is the perfect platform to showcase the Dart and the Dodge brand’s passion for performance on and off the track.”
