Bugatti officially announced a new special edition of the Veyron Vitesse – the Supersport version of the Grand Sport – but before you stop reading we have to point out this isn’t yet another special edition Veyron. It is the fastest production convertible car in the world, so it’s kinda earned it this time!
Limited to just eight units, the Veyron Vitesse WRC is mechanically identical to the standard Vitesse, which means it is powered by a quad-turbo W16 engine, developing 1,200 horsepower and 1,500 Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds.
As for the top speed, well, that’s what set this model apart. In the hands of Chinese driver Anthony Liu and at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessien proving ground – probably the only place in the world where you can max a Veyron – the car clocked 408.84 km/h (254.04 mph), and that is a world record.
To be unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Car is priced at €1.99 million.
I don’t think that Texas car company can beat that
