Toyota ME.WE Personal Mobility Concept Revealed

Toyota ME.WE Concept 1 600x400 at Toyota ME.WE Personal Mobility Concept Revealed

In collaboration with Massaud, Toyota has come up with a new ultra-modern and quite minimalistic concept called the ME.WE. The highly customizable and groundbreaking concept is an environmentally-conscience personal commuter that adapts to a wide variety of lifestyles.

Freedom, pleasure, and emotion are the main principles Toyota had in mind while developing this concept. The ME.WE is an anti-excess personal mobility concept that appeals because of its sheer simplicity. You don’t have to worry about anything with this car. You just get in it and go. Mind you, because of that simplicity you don’t get much in the way of luxury, safety, speed and dignity. You might as well go on a bicycle.

The car features a tubular aluminium structure with polypropylene body panels, which can be customized to become a pick-up, convertible, off-roader and small city car. It is electric-powered of course, and uses the same in-wheel motors as the Toyota i-ROAD, with batteries located under the floor. The whole thing weighs no more than 750 kg, thanks to the use of materials such as Bamboo!

Amazingly, this little mini car is AWD. The in-wheel motor system means it can be operated in two or four-wheel drive. The ME.WE is also rather sophisticated, boasting a single screen above the steering wheel which displays vehicle speed, battery charge, journey information and navigation instructions, delivered via a smartphone. You also get heating and air conditioning, even seat heaters.

The ME.WE will be unveiled at Le Rendez-vous Toyota, Toyota’s brand experience center on the Champs Elysées in Paris
