Designer Theophilus Chin has come up with these renderings of a three-door version of the recently-revealed BMW X4 Concept. He argues that the X4 is too similar to the X6, and turning it into a coupe makes plenty of sense.
The X4 is supposed to be a smaller, more efficient version of the big Sport Activity Coupe X6, but Chin does have a point. They look too similar. BMW could have put a bit more effort into differentiating the little car.
We’re not saying a coupe version would be a good idea, even though it makes the car look sportier, because SUVs, and crossovers for that matter, are supposed to be practical. On the other hand, the X6 and X4’s rear compartment is so cramped you may not want to use them anyway. So why not just omit the rear doors, make it in effect an unnecessarily large two-seater.
