Following the launch of the new Mercedes S63 AMG, the German car maker is now gearing up for the next big thing – the S65. Despite all the pressure from the environmentalists and high fuel prices, AMG decided to keep making V12 car, because people still buy them.
That is good news. But the really great news is that the new V12-powered AMG car is going to be even more powerful. The 2014 S65 AMG will have a whopping 630 horsepower and over a 1,000 Nm of torque. That is all the power in the world.
Having that kind of firepower allows AMG engineers to pack the the luxury saloon with every luxury and safety feature they have on the shelf, and still get amazing performance out of it. They are not being irresponsible though, as the new engine is said to be capable of averaging something like 12 liter/100 km, which is frankly brilliant for a V12 engine in a two and bit ton saloon car.
The transmission in the S65 is AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed an it comes with a tailored version of the Magic Body Control system that is designed to cope with the sheer weight and mind-boggling performance of the car. The new S65 AMG will go on sale in early 2014.
