As promised, Audi auctioned off a unique RS6 Avant at the annual Elton John White Tie & Tiara Ball to raise money for the singer’s AIDS foundation. In total, £3 million was raised at the event, of which £120,000 contributed by the Audi’s sale. This RS6 features Gwyneth Paltrow’s autograph inside.
The actress and Audi have a long and fruitful history thanks to the Iron Man movie franchise. She also drives Audis on the roads of London and Los Angeles. Gwyneth went to the RS6’s launch at Audi City in Piccadilly, London, and signed the first unit in the UK.
The RS6 Avant is the most powerful production Audi you can buy today with 560PS and 700 Nm, a 0-62mph sprint time of just 3.9 seconds, and a top speed limited to 155mph, which can be raised upon request to 189mph. The car offered at the auction has a unique gray exterior and Lunar Silver leather.
The star-studded White Tie & Tiara Ball attracted a large number of celebrities, including Coldplay – whose lead singer Chris Martin is Paltrow’s husband, Uma Thurman, Freida Pinto, Elizabeth Hurley and David Walliams.
Sir Elton John commented: “I would like to extend my thanks to Audi for supporting the Elton John White Tie & Tiara Ball for the last 11 years, and for its generosity to the evening’s fundraising.”
