You may remember the official spyshots Mercedes released to announce the birth of a new model, allegedly called the SLC. Those pictures weren’t very revealing, but that didn’t stop the guys at TopSpeed to come up with renderings that give us a preview of what it may look like.

Said to be the replacement for the Mercedes SLS, the SLC AMG will be a lightweight sports car with specs that put it right in the middle of Porsche 911’s line of fire. The car will almost certainly share a lot of its underpinnings with the current SL-Class, including the aluminum construction, and will be inspired by it design-wise as well.

Even in the camouflaged pictures you could tell it has very large headlights and a a bold vertical grille just like the SL. The profile though, is more akin to the SLS with a short tail and long bonnet. The SLC has normal doors rather the gullwings on the SLS.

It all sounds very interesting. Let’s see if Mercedes can finally make a proper sports coupe that gives the 911 a run for its money.
