UK’s famous chip tuner Superchips announced a new kit for the range-topping Vauxhall Astra VXR GTC. The VXR is already fairly bonkers when it leaves the factory with a whopping 280 horsepower – all of which are sent to the front wheels. Superchips package gives it even more go-juice.
Stage I of the tuner’s treatment for the Vauxhall’s 2.0 liter turbo engine includes a special ECU remap that delivers impressive punch, adding 23 bhp, plus an extra 61 Nm of torque. So in a matter of minutes, the output of the VXR goes past 300 PS. And it only cost £455.00 with installation.
That power is a front-wheel-drive car make a cause a fury of understeer and torquesteer, but it also results in excellent straight-line performance, as 0 to 60 only takes 5.8 seconds.
Stag II is for the more professional users, and adds a couple of mechanical changes for an even bigger gain. The free flowing aftermarket exhaust system and sports catalyst bring team up with the ECU kit to add 32 bhp and 75 Nm of torque. As usual, both treatments come with Superchips warranty.
