Following a couple of video teasers, Audi is now giving us the very first look at the new 2014 A8 facelift ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. These are the official sketches of the car, showcasing what’s new about the flagship saloon’s looks.

It is hard to notice, given the fact that on the whole the 2014 Audi A8 appears to be exactly the same as the old one, but the new model gets a more sculpted body with sharper edges and new details that make it classier and more elegant. You get the new Matrix LED headlights with dynamic turn signal system and slimmer taillights. There are revised bumper designs and new tailpipes as well.

The high-performance S8 which will follow the A8 will probably benefit from more prominent changes, but that seems to be it for the standard car. As always, the design is not the top priority with a car of this caliber. A super deluxe saloon car is all about the interior, equipment, and the quality of the ride. And while the Audi excels at all of those, it probably won’t be able to cause the new Mercedes S Class any trouble.

Audi A8 is still a very likeable car though. It doesn’t have the undesirable image that is associated with Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series.
