Mitsubishi’s new sub-compact car, the Mirage, is a global model which is now slated for the American market, where at 44 mpg highway, it is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline-powered vehicle. Another good thing about the Mirage is the starting price, which is only $12,995.
The basic 13 grand 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage comes with a MIVEC engine, electric steering, a comprehensive list of advanced safety features including a seven air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL).
The car also benefits from Mitsubishi’s patented RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) system which results in a safer passenger cell, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and convenient Hill Start Assist (HSA included on CVT-equipped models). So it is rather well-equipped for its price. And that’s not even counting the standard convenience features, including automatic climate control, keyless entry with panic alarm, sporty-looking rear spoiler, upscale piano black center console trim, auto-off halogen headlights, rear heater floor ducts, and…
The Mirage is a good car, especially at that price. It’s just that it looks kind of miserable. It looks like a 6 grand car. If you are OK with being seen in it, then it’s a cracking car to get around the town in.
