IAA Preview: New Audi Quattro Concept

Audi Quattro Concept 1 600x397 at IAA Preview: New Audi Quattro Concept

Audi is evidently having another crack at making a modern-day Quattro. They have released the first sketches of a new Quattro concept that’s headed to the 2013 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, And as always, it looks awesome and has very bold specs. But will it ever make it into production?

Only time will reveal the answer to that question. Audi Quattro, for those of you who are too young to remember, was one of the wold’s most famous sports car in the 80s. Inspired by the legendary Quattro rally car and boasting a sophisticated four-wheel-drive, the Quattro was a god of speed and handling.

The new concept car is reportedly based on a modified version of the RS7 chassis – probably because the standard RS7 chassis is too long for the Quattro – and is powered by the same 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

The only difference is it also has an electric motor, adding around 170 hp to the output of the petrol engine, which is also boosted to well over 600 hp, resulting in  total output of 800 hp and over 1000 nm of torque. With that kind of firepower under the bonnet, 0 to 100 is done in just 3.4 seconds and the top speed if 300+.

Detailed specs of the new Quattro Concept will be revealed closer to IAA.
