Everybody is looking forward to see what Cadillac has in store for the V-version of their ATS sports sedan. After all, this is a car that claims it is as good as a BMW 3 Series. On that basis, the Cadillac ATS-V should be as good as the M3. That sounds like a tall order for the little Caddy.
However, news came into office today that the new Cadillac ATS-V is going to be well equipped in terms of power. The car is going to get Cadillac’s new twin-turbo V6 engine. This 3.6 liter unit is a jewel of an engine. In its standard basic form, used in the likes of XTS and CTS, it makes 420 horsepower (313 kW) / 430 lb-ft of torque (583 Nm). That is very nearly as much as the new V8 engine in the Corvette C7 makes.
Bit of fiddling, and it can easily reach 450 or even more. With that kind of firepower, the Cadillac ATS-V will have something to say when facing the European adversary.
According to a report by Car & Driver, the ATS-V will also be available with a manual gearbox option, something that the nest M3 probably won’t get. Let’s just hope it is not the manual thy currently put int the standard ATS. It’s rubbish.
