In recent years Hennessey Performance has managed to up its game from being a muscle-obsessed tuner of American cars to a fully-fledged world-class tuner, working on cars like AMG Mercs, Ferraris, and now even McLarens. They only thing that’s remained unchanged is their love of horsepower.
Hennessey just announced it tuning package for the McLaren MP4-12C, currently the world’s most sophisticated super car. The HPE700 kit, as the name suggests, is good for 700 horsepower, and makes 538 lb-ft of torque as well. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, and does the quarter-mile in 10.3 sec. @ 137 mph.
The ingredients of Hennessey McLaren MP4-12C HPE700 package include upgraded engine management software, upgraded intercooler with new heat exchanger, new air intakes, and a steel sport exhaust system.
That might seem like a lot of work for an increase of just 80 horsepower over the standard. But you know how Hennessey works. That 700 hp is just the start, a mere warm up. There will be packages with up to 1000 horsepower available for the car. A body kit might also be in order.
