Volkswagen will reveal a new BlueMotion version of its successful Caddy commercial vehicle at the Frankfurt Motor Show. What set this car apart from the rest of the range is its exceptional fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 km (62.8 mpg), courtesy of a 1.6-litre TDI with common rail direct injection.
This engine is all about economy and so you don’t get much in the way of power. What it has to offer is 102 PS and a maximum torque of 250 Newton metres. It may not be fast, but it can keep going for longer, as a with full 60 liter fuel tank the Volkswagen Caddy BlueMotion can cover a distance of 1,300 km (over 800 miles).
Helping the small engine achieving such numbers are an aerodynamic body, stop-start function, low rolling resistance tyres, and recovery of braking energy. Even the ride height is lowered by 27mm, which, complete with a badge and new wheel covers, serve as distinguishing visual features of the Volkswagen Caddy BlueMotion.
The standard kit on Volkswagen Caddy BlueMotion includes hill hold assist, cruise control system, exclusive seat upholstery and air vent surrounds in high-gloss black (passenger version).
