A new British firm has announced its intentions to launch a brand-new sports car next year. What sets this one apart from the other nine million startups is the fact that the man behind this project, dubbed Zenos E10, used to run Caterham.

It’s Ansar Ali, the former boss of Caterham Cars who is now gong solo, designing and building his very own sports car. He has picked up a lot from his years of being at the helm of Caterham, and it shows in the specs of the Zenos E10.

The car weighs only 650 kg and it’s powered by a 2.0 liter Ford engine, tuned to make 200 horsepower. So it is basically a Caterham, only it will be better to look at – judging by the first sketches they’ve released – and it’ll offer a different driving experience, as the engine in the Zenos is mounted in the middle, like a BAC Mono.

Zenos E10 will feature an aluminium tubular chassis with a carbon tub and carbon body panels bolted to it. They already have designs for both coupe and drop-top variants, and also plans for a supercharged variant. Looks like Ali is onto something here.
