BMW released the first official teaser of the all-new 2-Series Coupe, to be unveiled October 25. Actually, it is not all all-new, as the 2-Series is in fact what BMW calls the replacement for the current 1-Series coupe and convertible. It is the new naming policy.
You see, the new 4-Series is what the new 3-Series coupe and convertible are called, and likewise, the 2-Series is the new designation for the 1er coupe and cabrio. They say this helps simplifying the range, making it easier to understand and telling different models apart.
Pictures of the new 2-Series have already been leaked, and they preview a pretty charming and good-looing little car. It is a damn sight better looking than the current 1-Series for one thing. The 2er is also a lot better than the 1-Series coupe that it replaces. And not just in terms of styling.
The new car is said to be coming with three sporty and powerful engines, including a 2.0 liter petrol with 180 PS and 270 Nm of torque; a 2.0 liter diesel with the same horsepower but 380 Nm of torque, and a superb 3.0 liter I-6 in the M235i model developing 326 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque.
The new BMW 2-Series goes on sale in March 2014, with the Convertible following in the summer.
