BMW revealed its lineup for the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, and it includes the world debut of the new 4 Series Convertible model. The car will launch in the U.S. market a few months afterwards in early 2014, starting from $49,675 for the 428i model and $55,825 for the 435i version.
Set to continue the success of the 3 Series E93, the new BMW 4 Series Convertible boasts a similar three-piece retractable hardtop to the 3er, but they say it’s been improved in design and construction. So hopefully it won’t start to squeak and rattle after a year or so, as was the case with the old model. They sell the 4 Series as a four-seater, but the rear compartment is really tight.
In America the BMW 4 Series Convertible is available with either an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine (BMW 435i Convertible), or a four-cylinder petrol engine (BMW 428i Convertible). In Europe the car can be had with a diesel unit as well. The 435i boasts 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque, and the 428i a healthy 245 hp and 350 Nm.
BMW 4 Series Convertible will be joined at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the i8 and i3 electric cars, the X4 Concept SUV, and the new 5 Series GranTurismo, as well as the current production range which includes the 4 Series Coupe, the X5 Facelift, and some bikes.
