Mercedes is adding a new model to the autumn range of the A- and CLA-Class, designated 250 Sport. For the A-Class this model only comes with 4Matic, but with the CLA you can have it with two or four-wheel-drive. The new CLA 180 CDI diesel is also on sale, but it is not very interesting so we won’t talk about it.
The new Mercedes CLA 250 Sport, and its A250 Sport brother, are both powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 155 kW (211 hp) and maximum torque of 350 Nm. Standard transmission is a sport-tuned 7G-DCT dual clutch.
The 250 Sport models also benefit from a couple of AMG goodies, including a front axle developed by Mercedes-AMG and an AMG sports suspension that has been tuned to match, plus AMG speed-sensitive sports steering. The ESP and exhaust note are also modified to match the sporty character of these models.
Visually, and apart from the Sport badges, they get black-painted 18-inch AMG 5-spoke light-alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish, shod with size 235/40 R 18 tyres, red brake calipers, designo seat belts in red and floor mats with “Sport” lettering.
