Each Monday we not only get the results of all the motorsport events that have been going on over the weekend – and share the most interesting ones with you – we also get to see some spectacular crashes. Here’s this week’s collection, consisting of three must-watch videos.

The first and the most important one is an IndyCar crash at the Houston Grand Prix, involving the legend Dario Franchitti. The high speed crash injured the Italian-Scottish driver and 13 spectators, but fortunately there was no fatality. Franchitti has already had a surgery on his ankle and is said to be stable. The peculiarity of this incident is that it happened only 10 days after the anniversary of Dan Wheldon’s death at the 2011 Las Vergas Grand Prix. Disaster averted, we think.

The next crash, fortunately, didn’t hurt anybody. And it is quite entertaining to watch. Two Porsche 911 drivers, Eduardo Cisneros and Marco Holzer, fought a spectacular fight at the VIR Grand Prix race of 2013 American Le Mans Series calendar until they ended up crashing into each other. That sent one of the cars airborne, which then landed neatly on the tire wall. Kudos to the Camera men with balls of steel who captured all this.

The third crash is the most devastating one, with a monster truck killing 8 spectators during a stunt show in Mexico. The monstrous machine apparently lost control and went into the crowd at high speed. The cause of the incident was almost certainly a mechanical glitch, and the spectators were standing too close to the action. Nevertheless, the driver has been arrested by the authorities.
