Mitsubishi is in a bit of a hurry to let us know about their new concept cars for the next Tokyo Motor Show. They are entitles to be all giddy, as the cars in question appear to be quite serious players in their respective fields. Mitsubishi Concepts for Tokyo Motor Show include an electric SUV, an electric crossover, and a compact MPV.

The electric SUV, or the MITSUBISHI Concept GC-PHEV to give it its official title, is a full size utility vehicle with all the off-road prowess of a Pajero, thanks to Mitsu’s S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) integrated vehicle dynamic control system. But it is powered by a high out-put PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) system. It also showcases the firm’s latest “Connected” technologies in terms of safety and connectivity.

The next is the MITSUBISHI Concept XR-PHEV which is a crossover with driving characteristics of a sports coupe, according to the car maker. This too has a lightweight and highly efficient PHEV system, and if the teaser picture is anything to go by, it is also a looker.

The third concept is a next-generation compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) that offers both the mobility of an SUV and the occupant space of an MPV. This model doesn’t get a hybrid electric powertrain, but rather a down-sized direct-injection turbocharged engine. It also showcases a flexible and clever interior design with a range of seat arrangements.
