As always, and with a few days and weeks remaining to the launch of a new BMW model, the guys at BMW Blog publish the first “leaked” official images of the production model. The cars in question this time are the new M3 and M4 models, set for market launch in early 2014.

For those who may still not know why we now have the M3 and the M4 instead of M3 Coupe and M3 Sedan, BMW decided that cramming all those different models under the 3-Series flag may cause confusion. So they made up the 4-Series, which covers the sporty versions of the 3-Series like the Coupe and Convertible. And so the M3 sedan is now called the M3, and the M3 Coupe the M4.

Both 2014 BMW M3 and M4 are powered by the same twin-power in-line six-cylinder turbo engine with 430 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque; they both weigh around 1,500 kg; and both have the same sort of visual features.

Compared to the standard versions of the 4 and 4 Series, the M3 an4 the M4 come with unique M bumpers front and rear, a more muscular hood, sport grilles, buffed-up fenders, and carbon fiber roof. The rear diffuser at the back host four tailpipes and the wheels are large M models wrapped in high performance tires.

Other features setting these cars apart from the normal models include M-specific suspension and differential, different electronic control systems, and a sport interior featuring bucket seats, M steering wheel, and carbon fiber trimming.

Official details are expected soon. Stay tuned.
