Bentley Continental GT3 in British GT Championship

Bentley designed and developed the new Continental GT3 not only for their return to the world of motorsport, but also to make some money out of. And the plan is working, as they sell the first customer GT3 race car to the Generation Bentley Racing team. They will be competing in the 2014 British GT Championship with the Bentley.

The Bentley Continental GT3 is eligible for a wide spectrum of worldwide endurance racing. Bentley will campaign with the car in the FIA GT3 endurance series as Le Mans. It can also be entered in national and continental championships, as well as FIA Blancpain endurance series.

David Appleby Engineering, the team behind Generation Bentley Racing, has ambitious goals for the Conti GT3 in the 2014 British GT Championship, and they’ve put together a good driver lineup to achieve it, including James Appleby, who has driven for SEAT and Aston Martin, and Steve Tandy, a podium regular in the British GT series.

Bentley Continental GT3 is a 1300 kg version of the road going car with a 4.0 litre V8 twin turbo V8 developing an unrestricted 600 bhp. Even though the appearance of the Continental GT is the farthest thing to a racing car, we have to admit the GT3 looks pretty sweet in racing overalls with those massive splitter and spoilers.

The opening round of the British GT Championship will take place at Oulton Park on 19 April 2014.
