Since the introduction of the new generation Mercedes S-Class Type W222, every major motor show saw the debut of a new and different version of the car. 2014 Detroit Motor Show is the proud host of the S600 version; a super deluxe S-Class with a massive 530-hp V12 engine.
The 2015 Mercedes S600 is one of those cars that make no sense at all, and not just because it has a big, thirsty V12 engine. The performance difference between this and the normal S500 is not that big to justify the price difference. The magic of the S600 is in the badge. If you have one of these you can tell your friends you drive a Mercedes 600. And that carries a lot of weight.
With the S600 you get a V12 biturbo engine with 530 hp and 830 Nm of torque. It is fitted for the first time with ECO start/Stop system, and as ridiculous as it sounds on a V12, it helps the car average 25.4 mpg, which is hugely impressive.
Performance-wise, the 2015 S600 goes from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Apart from the engine and its attraction, the S600 is a popular version of the S-Class family because of its features. The car comes as standard with ED Intelligent Light System, the MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension with ROAD SURFACE SCAN and the Driving Assistance package Plus, including Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, DISTRONIC PLUS with STEER CONTROL and Stop&Go Pilot, PRE-SAFE Brake and PRE-SAFE PLUS.
2015 Mercedes S600 goes on sale in March.
