Only V8s and V12s for Mercedes S-Coupe

S Coupe Concept 600x389 at Only V8s and V12s for Mercedes S Coupe

The production version of the Mercedes S-Class Coupe, or the S-Coupe in short, is getting ready for its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March. The first details of the new luxury coupe have started trickling down now, and they indicate that the S-Coupe will be loyal to the CL-Class’s love of excess.

Mercedes S-Coupe, we should point out, replaces the CL-Class in the range. So it will come only with V8 and V12 engines, unlike the S-Class sedan which gets V6s and hybrids, and sometime in the future, four-bangers even.

What’s more, AMG versions of the Mercedes S-Coupe have already been planned. Seeing as the new S-sedan gets S63 and S65 AMG variant, it was a given that the coupe version inherits the same powertrains. In fact, most of the S-Coupe sales are expected to be the AMG models. Let’s face it: if you are willing to spend 100 grand on a coupe, you almost certainly can, and will, spend another 30 or so Gs on the hotted-up version.

Visually, the S-Coupe will be very similar to the Concept car we saw at 2013 IAA Frankfurt Auto Show, which is to say a two-door version of the sedan with fancier front and rear-end designs. 4MATIC all-wheel-drive will be available for all models in the range, and they come as standard with Magic body Control system.
