The first picture of what appears to be a Gran Coupe version of the new 4-Series has hit the web. There is, of course, such a model in the works at BMW factory in Munich, and they are said to be readying it for a 2014 Geneva Motor Show debut.
So this probably is it. The BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe is a four-door version of the 4-Series Coupe featuring a sloping roof line and a decent-sized boot. It won’t be as practical as a 3-Series sedan, which is what it is underneath, but it will be a lot cooler. That sexy roofline compromises the rear headroom, and it will get two rear seats instead of the usual three. This car is, after all, a coupe.
BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe will also be identical to the 4-Series Coupe and Convertible in terms of engines and transmissions. It is not clear yet if BMW is going to make an M4 Gran Coupe. Logically, they shouldn’t, because it will totally mess up the M3’s market, in the same way that the new M6 Gran Coupe is causing troubles for the M5.
