Along with the new RC Coupe, Lexus is introducing at this year’s Geneva Motor Show the high performance RC F, the mid-range RC F-Sport, and a concept GT3 racing version of the car. These models make up the RC family, while Lexus top brass decided if they should green light a convertible version as well.
The Lexus RC F GT3 might be tagged ‘concept’ for the show, but it is a fully-developed racing machine that will be competing in various endurance races around the globe next year in the hands of private teams. FIAt GT3, 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and the Japanese Super GT are among the main venues where the Lexus RC F GT3 will be swapping paint with opponents.
Boasting a magnificent aero kit, the RC F GT3 is in essence a stripped-out RC-F weighing 1,249 kg. It gets the same V8 engine you find in the road-going RC F, but while the road car has to make do with 450 horsepower, the racing version will get upwards of 500, depending on the racing series it enters.
The extra power, lighter weight, racing suspension, and that aerokit will make sure the Lexus RC F GT3 is a formidable rival for the established leaders of this class like Porsche and Ferrari.
