“Every Man Challenge” is a field of off-road racing in the 2014 Griffin King of The Hammers series that includes desert racing and rock crawling in mad 4×4 vehicles. It is the venue Mopar, Chrysler’s service, parts and customer-care arm, has chosen as their new playground.
It is not so much a playground, actually, as a place a marketing opportunity for their crate engiens. Mopar will provide six Gen III 5.7L HEMI crate engines for first spec class vehicles in the “Every Man Challenge” race category.
These “4700 Spec Class” 4×4 vehicles feature a custom tube frame design based loosely on a Jeep Wrangler, unique off-road suspension, and large wheels and chunky tires. The power of the HEMI V8 combined with these bespoke parts give these vehicles astonishing off-road capability. They can literally drive up a wall, as long as it’s not very tall.
To see these mad machines in action you have to follow the Griffin King of The Hammers races. The HEMI-powered vehicles also will compete in the following four Trail-Gear Western Regional ULTRA4 Series events:
- May 30-31– Nor Cal Stampede in Sacramento, CA
- July 11-12 – ULTRA4 Glen Helen Grand Prix in San Bernardino, CA
- July 22-23 – American Rocksports Challenge in Tooele, UT
- Oct 17-18 – Nitto Tire National Championship in Las Vegas (Moapa), NV
