As part of their elaborate and extravagant promotional campaign for the Sonic city car, Chevrolet backed up a stunt by former professional skateboarder and tier one daredevil Rob Dyrdek, who decided to set a new world record for the “Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car”. The car they provided for the effort was a modified Chevrolet Sonic.
And he pulled it off, covering a distance of 89 feet 3¼ inches (27 meters approximately) between the two ramps and landed successfully at the other end. The record is official with a Guinness certification and everything, which required Rob to land safely and drive away with the car.

The stunt was also filmed by MTV for the season finale of “Fantasy Factory,” which is set to air on March 13.
“The Sonic is a great car for firsts,” said Dyrdek. “I have always been a Chevy guy, so when we decided we wanted to set a Guinness World Record for the finale of “Fantasy Factory,” using the Sonic again just made sense.”
