One of the new phrases in the automotive world you are probably encountering a lot these days is ‘connected car’. To help you understand what it really means, we have the perfect example here: the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe. This car comes with OnStar 4G LTE and the CUE Collection suite of applications. You can’t get more ‘connected’ than that.

4G LTE, of course, is just making its way to the car, promising a faster and more reliable connection for in-vehicle applications. It allows passengers access online content and information through a Wi-Fi hotspot, which can accommodate up to seven devices. In the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe you get LTS as part of the OnStar package.

The next other feature that makes the ATS ‘connected’ is the new CUE infotainment system, featuring CUE Collection, a new in-car app marketplace where you can download applications like iHeartRadio, The Weather Channel, NPR and Slacker Radio. Now, CUE is infamous for being one of the least responsive and least intuitive touchscreen infotainment in the world. We don’t know if they’ve fixed it in this new version, but it does get an improved eight-inch LCD.

That is not all you get in terms of connectivity with the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe. The car can also be specified with smartphone integration, including Siri Eyes Free for iPhone iOS 6 and iOS 7 devices, and new enhanced content such as a Text-to-Voice feature for smartphone users with Bluetooth profile.

What’s more, you get OnStar Directions and Connections, which includes advisor-based safety, security and navigational services, and the remote Key fob system, which enables services like the ability to lock or unlock doors, activate the horn and lights, and remotely start a properly equipped vehicle through the OnStar RemoteLink smartphone app.
